By definition, autonomy is the ability to act freely and independently. These are the values that the two founders of Autonomy skateboards want to transmit. Whether it's through a small session alone on the sidewalk of the local supermarket, during a mega session at the skatepark with friends or by going to get your croissants from the local baker in the morning, skateboarding is above all, the freedom to do what you want.

For the record, Autonomy Skateboards made their official debut at 2017's "Exposure Skate" which is the biggest women's skateboarding event in the world. It was held in Encinitas, California on November 3 and 4, 2017. The goal of the “Exposure skate" is to empower women, trans and non-binary people through skateboarding. The 2021 edition brought together more than 170 skaters from all over the world!
For Micaela Ramirez, co-founder of Autonomy Skateboards, "Autonomy Skateboards is dedicated to skateboarding, its lifestyle, and the independent freedom found in every moment on its skateboard. It has been nurturing the skateboarding community since over 20 years as part of her passion to empower young people and positively change the mindset of society through skateboarding (in her efforts as a founder of the Poseiden Foundation).
One of the most famous Autonomy Skateboard's collection is “The Progeny Project”. It pays tribute to famous and empowered women in history who pushed the boundaries of what was considered the norm for women of their time. The collection is a deliberate attempt to remind and inspire others that they too can overcome repression, stereotypes and achieve their goals. One of them is a deck with a picture of Amelia Earhart who was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Another one is a deck with Laura Thornhill who was the first female skater (of course ;-) ) to receive her own pro model skateboard. She caught the collective eye of the skate industry during her stellar performance at the age of thirteen at a 1975 South Bay contest where she won first place in both freestyle and slalom competitions. Another one is with a picture of Billy Jean King. King is regarded by many in the sport as one of the greatest women's tennis players of all time. There is also a nice movie called "Battle of the sexes" starring Emma Stone & Steve Carell about her . I could name few others like Anna Lee, Celia Cruz, Wilma Rudolf...
Autonomy Skateboards now has a solid team of girls like Eliana Sosco, Jessica Florencio, Rayssa Leal and Jazzmen Chavez.
Riders who are committed to skateboarding and have a passion for empowering and sharing the joys of skateboarding with today's youth.
