About
Boardary is born from several observations in our city of Brussels.
We started to see more and more women with a skateboard under the arm or cruising. One, two, ten… Something was happening.
And then are the facts.
Tokyo 2021 was a milestone as skateboarding made its Olympics debut with a “Street” and a “Park” competition for both male and female athletes. Netflix released the movie “Skate Girl” in 2021. At the time of writing these lines, the latest issue of Thrasher Magazine (January ‘22) has Samarria Brevard on its cover. Promodels for women pros are being released by specific brands but also by the big names.
Well, it’s overwhelmingly obvious now! And woman skateboarding is not a fashion, it’s a f***ing fact, here to last! And we’re very glad.
We saw that skateboarding could also become obnoxious at times when only guys gather up. Skatepark stories, anyways…
Yet, we figured that something was missing: a store dedicated to promote gear adapted to woman practice skateboarding but also to the many new products that are scattered in more generalist online stores.
- Our purpose is to bring up boards of all sizes (e.g. 7.75”).
- Highlighting brands launched by women.
- To expose established brands that "pivot" and promote female skateboarding through dedicated pro models
- And last but not least, to accompany the movement to break down the confidence barrier: get on a skateboard and go!
Who we are
So far, we’re two guys that met at our kids’ school back in 2011. A guy with a Vans hoodie on one side, another one with a “Refused” tshirt - Swedish hardcore punk band. And we knew we had something to talk about :)
Guillaume has been skating for 25 years and started Skate Till Death in 2014, addressing a niche within skateboarding: old school skateboards and reissues from historical boards (Santa Cruz, Powell Peralta, New Deal, H-street and many more).
We are in our 40’s yes!
Maxime has always admired skateboarding with the 411VM videos feeding the VCR, and big names at the time: Rodney Mullen, Daewon Song, Geoff Rowley and so forth. Regarding practice, well, a broken ankle and wrist later, he took it “sidecourt”! Now entrepreneur in photography with The Photo Academy, there is nothing he likes most than to start other projects in his areas of interest. Favier Guitars, with his brother, luthier but also skateboarder! And now Boardary.
We know we’re two guys supporting woman skateboarding. First of all, why not?
But then, we’re looking for support from the woman skateboarding community. Interested to join the adventure? Drop us a line
